Food Security
Food insecurity is a growing issue on college campuses. Here at Fresno State, we have a variety of resources available to help support students that may be experiencing food insecurity. Please visit the Food Security Project website for additional information.
Catered Cupboard
University Catering has partnered with The Catered Cupboard and encourages you to share leftover food with students at the conclusion of your catered event. Should you have food leftover, please contact 559.278.FOOD (3663) and let them know where food is available and what time students can come in, maximum 20 minute window. A push notification will be sent to students letting them know where to go. We encourage you to stay after the event and welcome students into the room to enjoy the food in the space in which it is being served; no food can be taken from the event.
The Catered Cupboard is available Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm
Swipe Out Hunger
In 2017 the University Dining Hall partnered with the Student Cupboard and created a program called Swipe Out Hunger. For one week each semester, volunteers from the Student Cupboard set up a table inside the University Dining Hall and educate students on hunger awareness. Each resident student is encouraged to donate one meal, or swipe, to students facing food insecurity – an average of 40% of resident students participate each semester.
University Dining Hall certificates, good for breakfast, lunch or dinner, are given to the Student Cupboard to distribute to undergraduate and graduate students who are experiencing food insecurity and in immediate need. For information regarding these certificates, please contact the Student Cupboard at 559.278.6621
